8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines via the .

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

"These kinds of products being offered, generally online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
